What does a Miami sandbar charter actually feel like?
Your confirmation email includes marina meet-up time and captain contact. You board a private boat with your group only. The captain runs out onto Biscayne Bay and anchors on the flats where the water is typically waist-deep on calm days — roughly three to five feet over packed sand and seagrass.
Once the hook is set, you swim, float, and take photos with the Miami skyline on the horizon. Depth drops quickly toward channel edges, so the crew keeps the group near the anchor zone. Low tide and east wind can shorten the comfortable window; the captain chooses the stop for that day.
Nixon Sandbar is open bay water, not a shoreline you walk to from Key Biscayne parks. A licensed captain who knows the flats is the only safe way onto that experience. Wear water shoes — shells and seagrass can cut bare feet.
What to expect from booking to dock return
Conditions: The captain decides the stop from wind, chop, tide, and USCG safety zones. If the flats are not safe, the charter still runs as a private scenic cruise on Biscayne Bay — or we reschedule or refund per policy.

Only Miami Tours and Water Adventures makes the weather call. If the flats are not safe, we reschedule or refund per policy, or run a scenic private cruise instead.
